DESCRIPTION

This is an exuberant and dramatic setting of Psalm 150, with lots of word painting — for example, “Praise him with sound of the trumpet” brings forth the trumpet stop of the organ. This piece is a bit challenging but very dramatic and effective.

While this piece is of course suitable for a church service, I believe it could also be suitable for a concert setting, provided there's an organ available in the venue.

TEXT INFO

Psalm 150  (King James Version)

Complete text:

Praise ye the Lord!  Praise God in his sanctuary!  Praise God in the firmament of his power!

Praise him for his might acts.  Praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet.  Praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Praise him with the timbrel and dance.  Praise him with stringed instruments and the organ!

Praise him upon the loud cymbals.  Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord!

Praise ye the Lord!  Praise God in his sanctuary!  Praise God in the firmament of his power!

Praise ye the Lord!  Amen.
