DESCRIPTION
This set of three songs for choir a cappella provides a nice variety of moods and choral textures.
The first song (“Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day?”) is flowing and romantic, whereas the second song (“Devouring Time”) is pensive and somber. Then comes the third song (“You Spotted Snakes”), which ends the set with a light, gentle touch.
I recommend programming these songs as a set, but each one is available for individual performance, if desired.
2016 was the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, and we're still celebrating his legacy. Performing this song cycle would be a wonderful way to celebrate!
